Biography:
Since they formed in 2002 Andrew Chilton (keyboard) and Jamie Manners (vocals) have been dividing audiences all over the place with their unique brand of (and I quote) ‘antigonistic, anti-consensus pop’ and their ‘agit-cabaret’ live shows. Now, I’m not sure what that means but I suppose the VG are a bit difficult to describe, their music is basically an odd, yet strangely compelling mixture of pounding, hypnotic keyboard loops and stories of politics, historical figures sent through time, imagined meetings between famous rock stars and a Serbian warlord in love (!) spoken rather than sung in Jamie’s nonetheless almost sing-song voice. They appeared on the Filthy Little Angels Singles Club ep 5, with the fabulous Fairies Band and are one of the only two bands (the other being October All Over) to release a full length album on FLA. Apparently, fact fans, Jamie was once in a Luke Haines tribute band, bet ythere aren’t too many of them about!
