Spinmaster Plantpot

Biography:

Plantpot started as a bedroom experiment in 2001. I challenged myself to do a ninety minute improv tape 'The Ginger Nut Years' by Spinwizard Plantpot. This was circulated to around eight and a half people who grunted "this is good / weird." I then did another improv tape which wasn’t really given out to anybody. In 2002 I changed my name to Spinmaster (oh the excitement) and then did my first gig which was at the 12 Bar Club in Denmark St London at the Blang! Antifolk night. Half of this gig was improvised and half pre-planned. It was also totally a capella. The gig went superduper well and I then started to write loads more songs and became famous for my 12 minute sets throughout indieweirdoland. What followed was an EP called "The Fried Onions Brigade," containing set favourites "Dairy Milk," "Crazy Nites" and "I Was Just Flirting." This got a few more nice grunts and before long I was gigging for the likes of Guided Missile, Strange Fruit and any other nutjob who'd have me. I also mixed in with the US and UK Antifolk fraternity and found a few kindred spirits who also delighted in fucking shit up. In 2004, The Rebel of Country Teasers fame remixed my shit and a 15 minute remix album came out called 'That Shot Oont Dupe.'  In 2005 Spinmaster Plantpot's Greatest Hits was released as a free CD to universal acclaim. The Greatest Hits rounded up all my stuff plus an other bits and bobs which were worthy of attention, sort of. Also, a  7" vinyl single has just come oot on Bubblewrap Industries… a collaboration with Smack Miranda… acid techno old skool revivalists. The title of this seven inch is 'Hello Spinmaster.'  I continue to perform a capella style and when people ask me what I do, I say "it’s punk rock poetry, equal parts shouting, singing, poetry and non-jokes."  To date, I have played at The Spitz, The Bull and Gate, The Scala, The 12 Bar Club, The Buffalo Bar, The Boston Arms - all in fackin' London and The Fringe Bar & The Freebutt in Brighton.
