The 2006 official Festive Fifty is now up and available to hear from Dandelion Radio! Listen in to hear if and where Forest Giants, The Bobby McGee's and Christmas album favourites Chalkdust turn up...

Happy New Year everyone!

21/12/06

Hi Cherryaders! We've just got back from London, where we went to the brilliant Radio 1 party at Maida Vale! We got to meet Huw Stevens and see Duloks and Tall Pony play, and had a very festive time with all our friends. And we were sitting quite happily on a sofa upstairs when Huw came up to us with a microphone and told us that Cherryade was DIY label of the year! We couldn't believe it, and I suppose our shock comes across in the few words of thanks we managed to stammer for the show! Cherryade gives huge thanks to Huw and Louise at Radio 1, all our brilliant bands, and our lovely music-y friends who have been kind, given us support, and just generally been great! And last but not least, thanks to you reading this, your support of Cherryade means the world to us!

The moment Rachael was told Cherryade were label of the Year.

Merry Christmas xx

22/11/06

Some exciting news - I'm sure many of you were fans of much missed legendary DJ John Peel's annual Festive Fifty chart, in which listeners to the great man's show got to vote for their favourite tracks of the year, and which has been carried on for the last two years by Radio One's finest Huw Stevens and Rob Da Bank.

Unfortunately this year Radio 1 have decided for many reasons not to do a Festive Fifty, but the tradition will still be living on, on fine internet station Dandelion Radio. You can find out more about the chart and cast your votes here. Remember, as they say, every vote counts, so to be sure your favourite tunes of 2006 get heard, place your votes now!

The Festive Fifty will be published on the website late December 2006, and the chart will be broadcast in full on Dandelion Radio.

10/11/06

Why does all the exciting Cherryade-related news seem to happen at once? Interest in the McGee's is still as strong as ever: besides being featured in this month's (first print edition) of Plan B, the band are also waxed lyrical about on Huw Stevens' web page after their outstanding session for his Radio 1 show. You can hear it from the BBC site until Wednesday, as well as another great session that has gone out this week, that recorded by the mighty Listen With Sarah for Andy Kershaw's Radio 3 program. Listen back here.

Bobby McGee's session for Huw Stevens (28/09/06)

1. Oobie Dooh, I Wanna Be Like Audrey Tautou

2. Kind Words [aka A Little Bit of Love]

3. Forever and a Day

In other news, it's time to reveal that Tiger MCs is currently in the Sickroom Studios recording songs to be released by Cherryade this winter. Already having received plaudits from his wonderful contribution to A Very Cherry Christmas (which you can download here), the Tiger MCs CD is definitely something we're looking forward to!

24/09/06

Well, it has been a while, hasn't it! It's always annoying when non-label things get in the way of things, but don't worry, Cherryade are as busy as usual behind the scenes. Cherryade Towers has been moving around quite a bit, but when we finally move permanently in the next month or so, we'll have a definite location, and, no doubt, a glittering neon logo flashing 'Cherryade' above our house. Possibly.

We've been planning quite a few releases with some of the best new artists in the country - for now, we're going to throw the names Tiger MCs, Listen With Sarah and Das Wanderlust out there, and tell you to keep posted for details in the near future! And Cherryade Records wouldn't be Cherryade Records, of course, without an annual helping of A Very Cherry Christmas - that's right, volume 2 is on its way in time for your stocking, and we've already got hold of half a dozen of the songs that will make up this year's greatest Christmas present. Shall I tell you who's going to be on it? Nah, let's tease you for a while, but suffice to say, this year is certainly going to be even bigger and better than volume 1! More details later...

The Bobby McGee's EP has been selling strongly - if you haven't copy yet, you probably don't have much time to snap one up! The band certainly shifted a few copies after their hugely successful stint at Emmaboda (how many bands can claim they're big in Sweden?), and you can catch some videos of the band's performance over here.

The Bobby McGee's will also be the very first band in session on Huw Stevens' new unsigned (!) show, which will be aired Wednesday night / Thursday morning 12-2am. So make sure you catch it on September 27th to hear the band redo some old favourites and perform some new ones!

09/08/06

A new show is up and running on the Cherryade Radio page.

Rachael Neiman is now an official DJ on the excellent online site Dandelion Radio, bringing together the best Peel-enthusiasts from around the country to continue playing music we're sure he would have loved. You can listen to Rachael's show every day 8-10am or 8-10pm. A new show will go up once a month.

The Bobby McGee's are in Emmaboda right now, playing alongside the likes of Darren Hayman, The Pipettes and Camera Obscura. If you live in Sweden, how can you afford to miss it?

16/07/06

Cherryade Records were Rob Da Bank's Not-So-Secret Secret on his Thursday show! He gave us a good description and played The Bobby McGee's again. A big thanks to Rob and Louise - we'll miss the One Music shows when they end in September...

07/07/06

"The Bobby McGee's? Yes Please!" is officially out as of today! The record has already been selling rapidly, so if you haven' got yours yet, you probably don't have a lot of time to do so. You can buy it from this website, or, if you live in London, Rough Trade now have a bountiful to sell you.

More reviews for both the EP and Welcome to the Mid-West are also up!

07/07/06

The Bobby McGee's? In the NME!

What's on the NME stereo?

04/07/06

Wow, why does everything seem to happen at once? Huge amounts of big news at Cherryade!

We're going down to London tomorrow to speak at the BBC Conference Centre about new music and young entrepeneurs. Rachael will talk for ten minutes about the label and all that it entails!

The Bobby McGee's have an article and photo in tomorrow's edition of the NME!

The Bobby McGee's have a One Music session lined up for August!

Phew! It's all happening...

03/07/06

And so the live version of the Rachael Neiman Experience has finished. We'd like to say a big thank you to all our listeners for their wonderful (and bizarre) text messages over the years, and though we won't be able to receive any more texts, you do now have the convenience of being able to listen to the show whenever you want at our new radio page www.cherryaderadio.co.uk. Feel free to email us still to request songs or give us useless yet fascinating info!

18/06/06

Alas, we have but five shows left of the Rachael Neiman Experience on Bailrigg FM, and we're planning to have one or two best of shows as a goodbye to the station. We'd love our listeners to email us with songs they'd like to hear played on these last shows - anything you've heard on the show that's made you think, wow, that's amazing, or, wow, they're playing my song! Email us at mail@cherryademusic.co.uk and let us know what you want us to play!

13/06/06

We now have a release date for the Bobby McGee's: "The Bobby McGee's? Yes Please!" EP will be released on Cherryade on July 10th 2006. We've already had our first review for it it too! Check out the EP's reviews page.

You can also mosey on over to the Bobby McGee's artist's page to find out why exactly the songs are called what they are. Read Jimmy's explanations to find out about Genki Sudo, girls called Tracey and what exactly Morrissey said to Tori!

The Rachael Neiman Experience is proud to present an exclusive Pocket Gods session to be broadcast on this Sunday's (28th May) show! Late Peel darlings and now One Music favourites, Mark and Annelise have been wowing listeners everywhere with their off-kilter rock melodies and spiky harmonies. Don't miss the excellent collection of songs they recorded for us this Sunday!

17/05/06

The Bobby McGee's artwork for the EP has finally arrived! We should be looking at an early to mid-July release date... we can't wait!

17/05/06

The lovely Huw Stevens played 'So You Think You're Unhappy?' from Welcome to the Mid-West on his equally lovely show last night! He described Cherryade as "ever brilliant" - thank you Huw!

15/05/06

It's high time we unveiled our newest signings to Cherryade: The Bobby McGee's! Yes Please!" and Cherryade will be releasing it this summer on pink seven-inch vinyl! In the meantime, you can find out more about the band at their MySpace page; why not add them to your friends?

16/03/06

Karma Download have announced that "Planes Fly Overhead" will feature in their recommended singles section from this Monday onwards!

25/02/06

A good week for plugging! My name was mentioned twice on Radio 1 last week, first because my voice was sampled on the work of genius that is Listen With Sarah's "My Little Hula Girl (WWW remix)" on Huw Stevens' show and then on Rob Da Bank's broadcast when he attributed the term 'Norwichcore' to me, which was very flattering! It was great to hear the likes of The Bells, The Bells, Master Solo and Grand Prix 86 getting some well-deserved airplay. You can find out more about the Norwich community by having a browse round the Howlback Hum site.

19/02/06

The third Cherryade release will be a download-only single by Bristol-based Forest Giants! The single is "Planes Fly Overhead" and will available from Karma Download - the Cherryade page will be up on the site in a couple of weeks, and a proper page in the sales section will go up too. The single will be available mid-March with the album to follow a month later. Keep checking for more detail!

16/02/06

Our interview with the Bobby McGees will be going out this Sunday 19th Febuary! This up and coming new band have been played on Rob Da Bank's One Music show and will be playing at the prestigious Emmaboda festival in Sweden this August. Hear Jimmy and El chat about being inspired by Herman Dune, playing on Top of the Pops, and lending ukuleles to Jens Lekman! Tune in 8-10pm to Bailrigg FM to listen.

08/02/06

Coming soon - all Cherryade releases to be available from Karma Download! Watch this space.

31/01/06

Some bad news. Unfortunately Dan has broken his wrist, so Steveless have had to pull out of the gig this Friday. Nevertheless, Suicidal Birds promise to be brilliant, and quite a few high-profile names are considering playing too, so it's still definitely a gig worth going to. Cherryade wishes Dan a quick recovery, and here's hoping the band will make it to the North West again yet!

27/01/06

There is an interview for the Morcambe Visitor online here. Read Rachael talk about Steveless, Feedback, John Peel and much more!

26/01/06

Some very exciting news indeed: Rachael has been given a weekly three minute slot on BBC Radio Lancashire to talk about the local music scene in Lancaster! It will be going out live (ooh er) around about 10:15am to 10:30am every Monday. Want a gig plugged in Lancaster? Contact us!

26/01/06

Lots going on behind the scenes here at Cherryade. What we can tell you is that we will be releasing the second album by tremendous Bristol-based band Forest Giants sometime in April, with a download-only single being out out about a month before. Hope that's satisfied your curiosity for now - more will follow!

20/01/06

Another great night for plugs on the Rob Da Bank show yesterday - Steveless was mentioned about a dozen times during the Bristol special! Dan and Rhys from the band left a few messages for Radio One talking about the state of the Bristol music scene, and the band were mentioned by various others (including Caroline Martin!) throughout the show. Isn't it great when the publicity makes itself?

18/01/06

Feedback restarts this week, featuring Working for a Nuclear Free City and a very special secret guest, who I guarantee you WON'T want to miss! There's also loads more great bands lined up to play - check out Feedback's gig page for details.

In other news, Huw Stevens played a track from the brilliant Das Wanderlust's demo EP last night. Huw even managed to find time to namecheck us, reminding everyone that the band had a song on A Very Cherry Christmas! We're also priveleged enough to be doing an interview with Das Wanderlust this evening - the interview will go out on Sunday 29th January, so make sure you don't miss it!

07/01/06

Steveless will be playing in Lancaster on 3rd February at Feedback! Following on from their successful gig at the label launch last October, it promises to be an excellent show, with the added bonus that the brilliant Suicidal Birds are playing too! Anyone in the North West is well advised to come along, as it's guaranteed to be a memorable experience.

04/01/06

Happy New Year everyone! 2005 was a fantastic year for Cherryade, culminating in Steveless' #9 position in the end of year One Music Festive Fifty. Let's hope 2006 brings us just as much good fortune and, of course, good music.

The Rachael Neiman Experience resumes on January 17th, same time, same place (see the schedule). We've got lots of lovely new releases to play, so make sure you tune in!
